Associated Group of Cobblestone Pavers
On 27 February 2025, a group of master cobblestone pavers formally established na Associated Group, laying the foundations for what may become an association representing the wider professional community.
Valuing the profession of artistic paver necessarily involves organising its craftsmen as a recognised professional group. Following several working meetings promoted by the Portuguese Pavement Association with master pavers from across the country, and at the initiative of these craftsmen — with the Association’s support — the Pavers’ Guild was formally established. This group brings together experienced pavers concerned with the future of Portuguese pavement, their craft, and the need to preserve and promote this centuries-old tradition.
The objectives of the Associated Group of Cobblestone Pavers include:
- Contributing to the recognition and dignification of the cobblestone paver profession;
- Promoting best practices in the execution and maintenance of artistic pavement;
- Supporting the training of new professionals;
- Raising awareness of and promoting Portuguese artistic pavement.
The Pavers’ Guild is part of the Portuguese Pavement Association, where it acts as a consultative body while retaining its autonomy. Its aim is to strengthen the role of pavers as guardians of this cultural heritage, ensuring the transmission of their craft to future generations.
